Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between film and digital?

Digital and film each offer a unique feel, neither is better, just different. Whether you’re drawn to the timeless charm of film or the crisp versatility of digital, the choice is entirely yours! I encourage you to book a digital session and include a roll of film add-on, and we can work together to understand the vision you have in mind.

Film brings a softness and depth that’s hard to replicate, each frame is intentional, imperfect in the most beautiful way, and full of character. It’s a unique layer of storytelling that pairs perfectly with your digital gallery. Each roll will contain about 35 photos. You will receive digital scans of the film photos and can request the roll of film itself as well. They are developed and scanned at a local, trusted lab in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

What if my child won’t cooperate during our family session?

No worries at all, this is so normal! I work with kids all the time and never expect them to be perfectly still or smile on cue. My approach is relaxed and playful, and sometimes the in-between, candid moments are the most magical. I’ll guide things gently and let your child warm up at their own pace.

What should I wear?

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and like yourself. Neutrals and earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you and your connections, but for some, those bold colors are truly beautiful and align with their personality. It all depends on you! However, I would recommend you avoid loud logos or intricate patterns like thin stripes.

I’m happy to help with styling recommendations, just reach out or send over outfit options if you’d like a second opinion!

What if the weather is bad and we are doing an outdoor shoot?

If the weather looks questionable, I’ll be in touch the day before (or even the morning of, if needed). Light overcast skies can actually be lovely for photos, but if it’s pouring or super windy, we’ll reschedule for the soonest mutually available date at no extra fee.

Can I bring my dog to the family shoot? We consider them a family member :)

Absolutely! I love when pets are included in sessions, they're part of the family too. Just give me a heads up so I can plan accordingly. A leash, a favorite toy, and some treats can go a long way in helping your pup feel comfortable.

Do you help with posing?

Yes, I’ll guide you the whole time with simple, natural prompts. My goal is to help you feel at ease so we can capture real connection and authentic moments. You don’t have to worry about a thing.
